If you read more into it, it seems there wasn’t enough cash to pay the current employees so they had to do it so it won’t pummel .-.
I realize that they were either going to shutdown or inject tons of ads into Tumblr to save it. However, it’s still funny to make dumb memes because everyone is so up in arms about it. Tumblr will likely be the same. If not, time to move on to Wordpress, Google+, or something else. There will likely always be a social network that people will rally behind.

Despite all the excited shouting, there’s nothing particularly cheerful about Yahoo’s maternal adoption of David Karp. Users are whining, investors are disappointed, pundits are ever-unimpressed, and Karp just gave up the future of his life’s work for a bailout.
